I’ll take any worthy translation, proofreading or back-translation project that fits my profile (for example, legal, architectural, auto industry, banking, safety guidelines, user manuals/drug patient information, plus the core “human” areas of economics, sociology, psychology and hypnotherapy). I’ve done in-service training in more specialized areas of translation (e.g. hospital release records, general medical, biotech, localization including permits etc.). I’ll engage a proofreader and consult other professionals on questions of terminology and also apply the translation memories (TM) if required by a client and perform accurate version control.

With CAT tools and the Internet changing this profession, the role of human T&I experts has become different than ever before and perhaps even more valuable than before. I have done over 20 years of T&I and localizing. I have lived both in Hungary and the United States for decades. Language in many forms has been at the core of my professional activities and my hobbies – a never-ending love affair. Having proofread entire books and theses, and lived in both cultures, I am perhaps more aware of the differences of the two languages. While mere precision is sufficient in some contexts, fundamental preferences are markedly different. As a linguist, I try to adapt to the currently accepted terminology of the industry and style of business or science.

Több mint húsz éve fordítok és tolmácsolok, új és új szakmai területeket fedezek föl. Magyarországon nőttem fel, de hosszú ideig éltem és tanultam az Egyesült Államokban is. A legtöbb szakmai tapasztalatot jogi, pénzügyi, valamint humán területen szereztem (pl. szociológia, pszichológia, jóga, NLP), de van tapasztalatom a műszaki és ipari témájú fordításban is (pl. építészet, épület-technológia, autógyártás, orvosi szövegek, élettudományok és vegyipar), továbbá lektorálás, minőségellenőrzés, visszafordítás, terminológia kidolgozása stb.) Tagja vagyok az Amerikai Fordítószövetségnek (ATA), és az Új-Angliai Fordítószövetségnek is (NETA).
